Training

What types of training do you offer?

We currently offer two training formats:

1.a. Synchronous training on Joyce’s Principle and cultural safety (Part 1)

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes, including 30 minutes of interactive discussion.
This training aims to promote a better understanding of Joyce’s Principle in workplace settings, particularly in the health, social services, and education sectors.

1.b. Customized synchronous training on Joyce’s Principle and cultural safety (Part 2)

Duration: 2 to 3 hours, including a discussion period.

This in-depth version focuses on concrete examples tailored to your professional context, to support the integration and practical application of the Principle in daily practice.

2. Asynchronous self-paced module on miropimatisiwin atikamekw and cultural safety

Duration: Half a day.

This module is designed to equip caregivers with tools to better understand the needs of Indigenous patients living in remote areas—particularly those of the Atikamekw Nation—and to promote care that is respectful, safe, and culturally responsive.

Do you offer trainings in hybrid or virtual mode?

Yes. Part 1 can be delivered in person, virtually, or in a hybrid format, depending on your organization’s needs and technical capacity. This preference should be indicated when submitting your request to ensure the best possible experience. Travel-related fees may apply when the training is delivered in person.

The self-paced module is offered as a ready-to-use package, which includes private access to online videos and a digital learning guide.

Are there any prerequisites for the training sessions offered by the Bureau du Principe de Joyce?

Yes. The training sessions are intended for participants who already possess basic knowledge of Indigenous realities. This foundational learning is covered in the Decolonial Toolbox (Levels 1 & 2) developed by the Indigenous organization Mikana:
Decolonial Toolbox – Mikana

Is it possible to modify the duration of a training?

No. The duration of each training session is standardized to ensure that all key content is thoroughly covered. This structure supports deep understanding and high-quality discussions. Shortening the session would risk compromising essential learning outcomes.

Can we choose only certain topics (for example, talk about Joyce without addressing cultural safety)?

The Joyce Principle and the concept of cultural safety are closely linked and cannot be completely separated. However, it is possible to adapt the approach and depth of some themes depending on the context or target audience.

Can we obtain the PowerPoint presentation or workshop of trainings ?

Visual aids (such as the PowerPoint presentation) are internal facilitation tools and are not publicly distributed. However, a summary or an information sheet may be provided to participants after the training to support follow-up and application of the learnings.

Is it allowed to record a training ?

Trainings cannot be recorded. This measure aims to protect the content, respect the participants, and ensure the quality of exchanges.

How do we request a training?

Requests must be submitted using the official training request form:

Training Request Form

A member of the team will contact you to discuss the format, your needs, available dates, and logistical arrangements, and to send an official quote.

Do we receive official confirmation after the request?

Yes. An email confirmation is sent once the training is scheduled, outlining the date, format, technical details, and the name of the facilitator.

Are there fees associated with the workshops?

Yes. Depending on the nature of the request (internal training, institutional support, etc.), fees may apply, and these are confirmed upon booking.

Can a training be evaluated or adjusted after it has been received?

Yes. At the end of each training, participants receive an evaluation form to share feedback. This input helps continuously improve the training offer and better meet the needs of organizations.
